Sol Lapidary is a foundation dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the lapidary arts. We build tools for gemstone design, spectral rendering, and faceting education, making the craft accessible to faceters, collectors, and enthusiasts worldwide.

Mission

Our mission is to bridge the gap between traditional gemcutting knowledge and modern computational tools. By combining spectral ray tracing with parametric design, we enable faceters to visualize and refine their cuts before committing to rough stone.

Access

Many of our tools — the design browser, material reference, and core faceting viewers — are free for anyone to use. More advanced capabilities, including the full design editor, spectral renderer, and optimization tools, are available to patrons who support the project's ongoing development.

Author rights

Our goal is to catalog and preserve as many faceting diagrams as possible, but we respect the wishes of the authors whose work we reference. If you are the designer of any diagram listed here, or their legal representative, and would like your work removed or its access reduced, please reach out — we will honor your request promptly.
